HIFU

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatments are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates aging skin. It lifts sagging skin on the face and body, specifically on the lower face, around the eyes, and the neck.

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatments are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates aging skin. It lifts sagging skin on the face and body, specifically on the lower face, around the eyes, and the neck.

The treatment uses ultrasound energy to reach underneath the skin surface. It heats up the skin tissue this causes stimulation to the targeted area. As the area heals, the skin produces more collagen, resulting in tighter and younger-looking skin.

HIFU technology is completely unlike radio frequency, skin, and other skin treatments. It is a non-surgical face and neck lift and body contouring procedure.

Usually, clients see results in a single session. Some clients may need more sessions depending on how their body builds collagen and the current condition of their skin.

We recommends a maintenance program 6 - 12 months apart. The program includes Mini HIFU which can be done 2 - 3 months after HIFU skin tightening. It will help the memory of the muscle and skin texture

After your HIFU treatment, you will see some slight plumping, but the best results will come after 2 - 3 months. Your body will continue to regenerate collagen for the next 6 months after the initial treatment.

We continue to age every day, so we recommend pairing the treatment with a maintenance program. Adding skin treatments in-between to help the skin texture and reduce fine lines can also generate better results.

Results from HIFU treatments can last for a year or more. We cannot give a more definite time frame since results vary depending on an individual’s collagen production process and other lifestyle factors that could affect aging. The fact, is we are ageing every day, but HIFU will slow down the ageing processUnlike cosmetic surgery, HIFU treatments do not require any downtime. After the treatment, you will see some slight redness or swelling but normally your skin will have a healthy glow. You need to take certain precautions like avoiding temperatures that are too hot or too cold, but you will be able to resume most of your daily activities.

HIFU is for everyone that is concerned about aging, tired skin or if you need a peep up. This gives you a natural healthy glow without surgery. You may schedule a consultation with  Myra Beauty and makeup to determine how this treatment can benefit you. Areas that can be treated are around the eyes, cheeks, jowls, neck and mouth, and we recommend the full face and neck treatment for best results

To get the best results from the treatment, you need to follow certain steps once it’s done. You might also go home with aftercare products. Following these steps will also minimise possible side effects.

Avoid exposure to temperatures that are too hot or too cold, including activities that involve sun exposure, sunless tanning and more.

Avoid applying all products that contain skin irritants on the treated area. These irritants include glycolic/ salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, and retinol products such as Retin A, Tazorac, Triluma, Differin, and Vitamin C for one week pre and post-treatment

Advise staff when taking antibiotics.

Avoid alcohol. The liver will be mainly responsible for disposing of the fat deposits destroyed during the treatment. Drink 8 glasses of water for 4 weeks and follow a healthy diet and light exercise plan.

Laser Hair Removal

Enjoy a completely pain-free, cool and comfortable experience throughout the session

Yes! Laser hair removal is safe to use on all areas of our bodies, including the cranium (scalp), face, and even genital areas. This is because the energy of the laser targets and disrupts our hair follicles whilst leaving our skin’s surface unaffected. Additionally, the laser is targeted and short pulsed which means it’s also unable to penetrate deep enough to reach any of our internal organs.

Laser technology is attracted to any dark colour, not just the colour of our hair. With this in mind, we’re able to safely treat skin types 1-3 and a light skin type 4. However we cannot treat dark skin types 4, or types 5-6 without the risk of burning.

Before your laser hair removal treatments, you will need to;

  • Avoid direct sun exposure 2 weeks before & after each treatment. Short walks with SPF50+ and coverage excluded.
  • Wait 6 weeks after waxing, tweezing, or epilating before having your first treatment.
  • Shave the night before each treatment.

The main thing to do after your treatments is to keep the area cool. With this in mind, we provide aloe vera gel & ice packs in our clinic rooms for immediate post-treatment care.

Post Treatment Care

  • Continue avoiding direct sun exposure to treated areas for 2 weeks.
  • Keep your showers cool or warm (not hot) for the first 24hrs.
  • Avoid applying moisturiser to the area for 24 hours – aloe vera gel only (if necessary).
  • Exfoliate the area 3 days after your treatment.
  • If necessary, you may shave or clipper between treatments.

Fortunately this is a myth! After shaving, your hair will appear thicker as it grows back. However this is only because the hair is growing back with a blunt edge opposed to a tapered end. Once you’ve had laser hair removal, the hair will fall out within 1-2 weeks.

If you’ve already shaved but have decided not to go ahead with laser hair removal, don’t worry! Afterwards, your hair will shed on its own and regrow back to how it was within 6 weeks.

You will see a significant result after just one treatment. However to see full results (a 75-85% permanent reduction), you’ll need to complete the all of your sessions. This is because only the actively growing hair follicles (Anagen hair phase) are destroyed each session and not all hair will be in the active growing phase at the same time

Putting a Number on It

The exact number of treatments you need depends on the area you are treating and whether you’re female or male (due to varying hormones). To illustrate how how many sessions you may need based on your gender & treatment area, see the table below.

Note: You may need additional treatments if you have existing hormonal conditions such as PCOS and Hyperthyroidism or are on medication that fluctuate your hormones such as Rogaine and the Contraceptive Pill.

AreaFemaleMale
Brazilian + Underarm9-12 treatments10-15 treatments
Arms, Legs, Chest, Stomach, Back6-9 sessions10-15 sessions

In short, no. Laser hair removal is attracted to pigment (colour) in the hair. Unfortunately, if there’s no pigment present (such as in red, grey, white, and blonde hair), the laser is unable to pick up on the hair nor destroy the follicle in which it grows from.

Fibroblast Plasma

The Plasma Fibroblast is a small handheld device that ionises nitrogen and oxygen to create a small plasma flash to treat the targeted area. The plasma is then directed to the skin via a fine nozzle, which subsequently transfers into the epidermis layer of the skin down to the fibroblast cells in the papillary layer, leaving small carbon crusts where the plasma has evaporated excess skin. The heat then encourages the skin to contract, visibly lifting and tightening the area. As these are tiny controlled injuries, the natural healing ability of the body is triggered, resulting in an increase in collagen production.

At the beginning of the treatment the area will be outlined. As the treatment progresses over the area where you may feel mild zaps as the plasma moves from the tip to the skin. The treatment length varies based on the area to be treated.

Following treatment, you can expect swelling, redness and small brown spots known as carbon crusts. These will scab over the next few days with the scabs expected to have fallen off by day 7. We recommend not wearing makeup until this occurs. You will also be provided with an aftercare cream. We recommend you continue to use this until the scabs are completely healedMost individuals will see immediate results after treatment with noticeable improvements occurring in the two weeks after. The skin will then continue to improve over the next 2 - 3 months with results expected to last between 2 - 5 years.

A single (one) session is often all you need, however for some clients a second or third treatment may be required to achieve desired results. Follow up treatments can be performed after 8 - 12 weeks.

We recommend that all clients arrange a consultation with us  prior to any treatment to determine suitability, but generally speaking, it is suitable for most skin types.

If you have very dark skin (Fitzpatrick scale type 6), vitiligo or are prone to scarring this procedure may not be suitable. This procedure is not recommended to those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, immune deficient, take blood thinning or acne medication.

Pre treatment

It is important that you inform Us if you have any significant medical history and/or if you are taking any medications prior to treatment. Makeup and sunscreen will also have to be removed prior to treatment.

  • Do not wax, pluck, use depilatory creams or undertake electrolysis for 2 weeks prior to treatment, and in between treatments
  • Do not use prescription strength exfoliant creams (discuss with your therapist) for 2 weeks prior to treatment
  • Do not shave for up to 1 weeks prior to first treatment. Please shave the night before all subsequent treatments
  • Avoid tanning, including self-tanning lotions, tanning bed/booths or sun exposure, for 4 weeks prior to and in between treatments.  A sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater should be used on any area of sun-exposed skin, which you plan to treat
  • Skin Types 3 and above may need to commence melanin inhibitors 2-4 weeks prior

Post treatment

Until redness has completely resolved, avoid all the following:

  • Applying cosmetics or alcohol based products on treated areas
  • Swimming, especially in pools with chemical/chlorine
  • Hot tubs and jacuzzis
  • Activities that cause excessive perspiration
  • Avoid sun exposure to treated areas
  • Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs as this will cause unwanted side effects
  • Apply a sunscreen with SPF 30+ daily to sun exposed skin, AND REAPPLY AS DIRECTED BY PRODUCT INSTRUCTIONS
  • Increased photosensitivity to UV can occur when taking certain medications. During your treatment programme, if you have commenced or changed dosage with the following medications, you must advise your clinician:
  1. Antibiotics
  2. Antihistamines
  3. Antidepressants
  4. Herbal preparations – St Johns wort, Gingko Biloba, citrus oils, Herbal HRT therapies

Taking these medications does not exclude you from plasma treatments; however, extra precautions are applicable in these cases.

In addition to the above instructions, further individualised recommendations may apply such as:

Fibroblast post treatment

  • Application of Stratamed or an ice pack/cool compress every hour for 5 to 10 minutes may be soothing to the skin.  Continue until symptoms subside
  • Only apply Stratamed on the treatment area for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid getting the area wet for 24 hour and do not apply any cosmetic or cosmeceutical products to the area
  • Avoid sun exposure to treated areas.  Apply a sun block with SPF 30 or greater daily to sun-exposed treated areas between treatments and for 4-6 weeks after last treatment
  • Recommended to use SPF daily, once the scabs have formed
  • Bathe or shower as usual.  Treated areas may be temperature sensitive.  Avoid use of strongly scented lotions or soaps, prescription strength exfoliant creams, loofah sponges, and aggressive scrubbing to treated areas during healing phase
  • Allow any blistered or open areas to heal spontaneously.  If healing is delayed, a thin coating of antibiotic ointment may be advised.  Do not pick at these areas.  Picking may result in infection or scarring.  Allow any crusting to heal spontaneously, crusting will resolve in 3 to 14 days.  Application of antibiotic ointment is not recommended for crusting
  • Best results are obtained on clients who have follow up treatment 3-6 months after their initial treatment. Your clinician will advise you when you should schedule your next appointment. It is important to adhere to this regime

Pigmented lesions post treatment

  • A sunburn-like sensation is expected.  This usually last 2 to 24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours.  Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, which usually resolves in 2 to 3 days.  In some cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur
  • The lesion may initially look raised and/or darker with a reddened perimeter.  Apply cool/ice compresses to treatment areas for 10 to 15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours, as needed, to reduce discomfort and heat sensation
  • The lesion will gradually turn darker over the next 24 to 48 hours.  It may turn dark brown or even black.
  • The lesion will progress to scabs/crusting and will start flaking off in 5-15 days
  • The lesion is usually healed in 3-20 days.  It will continue to fade over the next 2 to 4 weeks
  • Direct sunlight to the treated area should be avoided.  Daily application of a SPF30 is recommended to prevent development of new lesions

Vascular Lesions Post Treatment

  • A sunburn-like sensation is expected.  It usually lasts 2 to 24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, which usually resolves in 2 to 3 days. This can be treated with cold packs
  • Apply cool/ice compress to treatment areas for 10 to15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours, as needed, to reduce discomfort and heat sensation
  • The vessels may have micro-crusting and scabbing which falls off within 1-2 weeks after the treatment
  • The treated area can be gently cleansed and topical bactericidal ointment can be applied if needed
  • The vessels undergo immediate greying or blanching. In some cases, only a slight purplish change is noted. Vessels either fully or partially resolve in about 10 to 14 days and areas of diffuse flushing gradually fade leaving skin with normal appearance.

Dermapen Microneedling

Skin needling is a non-surgical skin rejuvenating procedure that encourages the regeneration of skin cells and the production of collagen and elastin resulting in plump, youthful skin.

Skin needling has been shown to assist with:

  • pigmentation
  • acne scars
  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • enlarged pores
  • stretchmarks
  • scarring
  • general skin tightening and rejuvenation.

At Our clinic we use a dermapen for our skin needling procedures. Unlike rollers, the dermapen is a small wand that can be expertly controlled to allow for tailored treatments dependent on skin type, concern and comfort levels.

The fine needles of the dermapen creates micro-injuries to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. When combined with actives, the dermal pen assists in getting those products deeper into the skin allowing for a more thorough and targeted treatment.

Once you arrive at the clinic, the therapist will clean your skin and then the treatment will begin. You will feel the slight vibration of the dermal pen as it is directed across the skin. You may experience mild stinging however due to the design of the dermal pen, discomfort should be minimal.

Pre treatment

We recommend minimising UV exposure prior to treatment and coming in makeup free. Makeup can be removed prior to treatment if this is not an option.

Post treatment

Following treatment we recommend clients:

  • minimise UV exposure,
  • pause the use of actives for a minimum of 5 days (such as AHA’s, BHA’s, Retinols, Vitamin C, Vitamin A etc.),
  • minimise activities that significantly warm the face (i.e saunas, strenuous exercise)
  • and do not shave the treatment area.

Cold Plasma Treatment

Cold Plasma Resurfacing & Rejuvenation is a non-laser treatment that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, rosacea, stretch marks and facial volume loss.

  • Immediate tightening: the immediate contraction of collagen fibres reduces wrinkles and loose skin.
  • Immediate shrinkage of damaged skin, giving the appearance of a ‘facelift’
  • Reduction in acne scarring or individual scars.
  • Skin laxity is noticeably improved.
  • Textural improvement which removes pigmentation problems, reduces pore size, wrinkles, acne scars, and other textural irregularities.
  • It is effective on skin lesions e.g. discolouration from sun damage and ageing.
  • Softens fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Removes age and sun spots.
  • New collagen production for up to one year following treatment.
  • Minimal discomfort with topical anaesthetic cream.
  • Minimal downtime: typically 5 days in total, of which 3 days are infection risk and the subsequent 2 days being ‘social downtime’ due to facial redness.

You can see results immediately as the Plasma’s wavelength targets and vaporizes the water held within the skin causing skin to contract. You can then really see the benefit of skin tightening effect once the skin has peeled away.

The quality of the skin texture continues to improve in the new skin over the coming months as the generation of new collagen simulates healthier and younger looking skin. You will continue to see the results develop for up to six months with new collagen regeneration that ‘plumps’ up the skin.

You are required to supply and apply their own numbing cream - applied 20-30min prior to your treatment. This topical aesthetic cream will minimize any discomfort and allow you to feel more comfortable during the procedure. Cover the area in plastic wrap - the heat generated through the wrap helps activate the cream, speeding up the numbing process. The plastic wrap can be secured with medical tape.

Immediately after treatment you do feel the heat on their skin, however this is made tolerable because of the effects of the topical anaesthetic applied prior to treatment. After the first hour there is no real discomfort and the patient soon focuses on application of gel/cream to ensure skin remains moist at all times. The treated area will be red and remain swollen. The day after the treatment the redness and swelling subsides. Typically on Day 3 the skin feels itchy as the layers of skin start to peel. Once peeling is complete and the skin healed on Day 3 there are no adverse effects to health however appearance may still be slightly red or pink in places.

Pre-Treatment

Avoid sun-tanning, spray-tanning, tanning injections and sunbeds for 4 to 6 weeks before your treatment.

Avoid botox or fillers for at least 2 to 3 weeks before your treatment.

Avoid any other type of procedures for 3 month on the same area which you intend to have treated with Cold Plasma , such as laser therapy or chemical peels as this may prevent your treatment being performed.

Use SPF-30 to prep your skin for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment, especially if you are naturally darker skinned.

You may even wish to consider a Pre-Treatment product using a Tyrosinase Inhibitor as this can help prevent overproduction of pigment in the skin. Tyrosinase Inhibitors are not just useful for those who suffer from hyperpigmentation but for anyone, even those with healthy, even skin.

Discontinue any use of topical Retin-A products a minimum of 7 days prior to treatment.

Post-Treatment

Wash your face with cool water. Warm or hot water might not feel as good as cool or cold water, which can help soothe post treatment sensations.

Moisturize and hydrate. Since Cold Plasma can temporarily compromise your skin’s protective barrier, it’s important to reinforce that barrier with a medium-to-thick Moisturizer / Nourishing oil on 3-5 day. Also, drink more water to help avoid dehydration, which could make your skin feel tight.

Apply sunscreen with SPF30 or more. Your skin is more delicate after Cold Plasma, so avoid direct sun exposure for 3 month.

Avoid strenuous workouts, dry saunas and steam rooms. Increased blood circulation to the face can intensify warming, tingling, itching, redness or other uncomfortable side effects on freshly treated skin. Skip such activities for 5-7 days after Cold Plasma.

Don’t exfoliate within 4 weeks after treatment. Over-exfoliating can lead to more redness or sensitivity, so wait until your skin feels up to it.

Once your skin feels “back to normal” after Cold Plasma, it’s generally considered OK to resume your normal skin care regimen.

Plasma skin resurfacing is not recommended for candidates with:

  • Darker complexions (cold plasma is only suitable for light-medium skin tones)
  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Skin prone to scarring
  • Severe acne
  • Lupus
  • Pace makers or defibrillators
  • Diabetes
  • Anticoagulants
  • Poor healing disorders
  • Excessive UV exposure in the last 2-4 weeks
  • Cosmetic injectables within the last 2-3 weeks
  • Prescription exfoliates
  • Recent sunburn/sun tan/ fake tan
  • Pregnant or breast feeding
  • Active skin conditions/infections
  • Open wounds or lesions
  • Immune-deficient or any other auto-immune disorders
  • Vitiligo
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Skin Cancer
  • Cancer
  • Blood thinner medications
  • Topical and oral acne medications (for example Roaccutane)
  • Herbal Prescriptions such as St Jonh’s Warts, Gingko Biloba, Citrus Oils HRT (not excluded from this treatment but extra precautions are applicable in these cases)

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a safe, quick, and non-invasive treatment that can be used at any age to revitalise and improve the complexion of the skin.

Microdermabrasion is a safe, quick, and non-invasive treatment that can be used at any age to revitalise and improve the complexion of the skin. Microdermabrasion is a process that deeply exfoliates, polishes, and increases the lymphatic drainage of skin. It uses a gentle vacuum to bring your skin in contact with a diamond coated head that gently abrades the top layer of dead skin.

Depending on your skin concerns and severity of your condition, the number of treatments required will vary. A starter course of between 5-8 treatments followed by refresher courses every few months may be required.

LED Treatments

LED Advanced Light Therapy is painless, non-invasive, risk free, safe on all skin types and has absolutely no recovery time whatsoever!

LED Advanced Light Therapy is painless, non-invasive, risk free, safe on all skin types and has absolutely no recovery time whatsoever! It uses the knowledge that each colour in the spectrum has its own frequency and vibration, and each of these stimulates a different healing response from the body. Best of all, it is one the fastest and most affordable recovery treatments available today.

LED light therapy will improve the overall condition of your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, pigmentation, redness and blemishes.

LED treatments:

  • Induce skin healing
  • Increase circulation
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Increase in collagen and elastin production
  • Have no downtime

Some individuals have found LED can reduce the severity of Rosacea, eczema and dermatitis.

The light and wavelength emitted from the LED’s are absorbed by the skin and converted into energy. This energy then stimulates the renewal process and encourages cells to increase production of collagen and elastin. Unlike other popular skin treatments that induce controlled wounds to promote skin repair, LED lights bypass this step skipping straight to kickstarting the rejuvenation process making it perfect for sensitive skin types or those looking for less invasive cosmetic procedures with no downtime.

Red LED light:

The red LED lights encourages healing and skin rejuvenation. It can also be used to minimise recovery time after laser or chemical peels.

Blue LED light:

The blue LED lights target acne causing bacteria on the skin. By removing the bacteria count on the skin, acne is reduced.

Results will typically begin to be seen around two weeks into your treatment plan, with improvements being more pronounced at around four weeks. As the LED therapy works at a cellular level, you will continue to see improvements for 3-6 months following the conclusion of your treatment plan.

Pre treatment:

Prior to treatment makeup will need to be removed, otherwise just sit back and relax while the LED lights work their magic.

Post treatment:

As there is no down-time with LED treatment you can resume activities as normal and reapply makeup if desired. As with any other treatment, we recommend a SPF be applied daily before sun exposure to compliment benefits and protect skin from further UV damage.
